KRI Level I Kundalini Yoga Instructor
***Karmic Relief - Making
Yoga More Accessible*** |

Sat Nam. I offer a practical, come-as-you-are approach to the art, science, and technology of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Kundalini Yoga offers asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork), mantra (chanting prayer), meditation, and Savasana (deep relaxation). While a solitary practice is essential to personal and spiritual development, I only offer private group sessions because I believe in the power of cultivating group consciousness to transform and heal. No prior experience with yoga is necessary. Sessions are tailored to the practitioners' needs/goals. All levels of experience and all body types welcome. I recommend using a
Natural Cotton Yoga Mat If you're not sure what to look for in a yoga class or instructor, I recommend reading How to Choose a Yoga Teacher (pdf) and How to Choose a Studio (pdf). Click here to download Adobe Acrobat, if you need to. Private Group Yoga Instruction: I offer yoga sessions to groups of 2 or more. A group session enables the practitioner to experience a deeper, more profound experience when in the company of friends and loved ones. Invite your best friend, significant other, or relative to share the Kundalini Experience with you. Investment: Pay What You Can I do not believe in setting a value on one's yoga experience. Yoga should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Therefore, I ask that individuals and organizations pay what they feel the experience is worth and bests fits within their budget. If that means you are able to pay $5, wonderful. If you are able to pay $500, wonderful. Previous exchanges have included the cost of roundtrip carfare, a homecooked meal, and other barter services. The following artists/albums are played during yoga sessions (partial list):
The Flow of Naam - Joseph Michael Levry
Om House - Joseph Michael Levry

Note: Please consult with your primary care practitioner before beginning any physical activity program. It is important that you are aware of any health concerns that may interfere with your participation in a yoga session. Please be honest and open with me regarding illness, pregnancy, back and joint pain, depression, or any other issues that may prevent you from fully engaging in your session so that I may offer guidance and adjustments.
I received my yoga training at Universal Force Healing Center and studied under Joseph Michael Levry (Gurunam) Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Guru Dharam Singh Khalsa, and Dr. Mahan Rishi Singh Khalsa & Nirbha Kaur Khalsa. I am also a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and offer guidance in whole foods nutrition and community wellness. I have led public classes and
workshops at ACORN HS for Social Justice,
Hibiscus Day Spa,
The Brooklyn Public Health Office,
Embora Wellness &
Movement Studio,
Universal
Force Healing Center,
Shambhala
Yoga & Dance,
SweetHome Yoga, and
Lucille Roberts. Testimonials: Melissa introduced me to Kundalini Yoga
practice on a library floor in a Brooklyn high school. I was at first
skeptical about the practice since it involved much more meditation and
chanting than I had previously experienced. - Erica M. Hall, Brooklyn |
